The AAEF Mahmoud Darwish Center for Arab Studies Endowment was created in the memory of renowned Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish, who passed away in Houston on August 9, 2008 after undergoing heart surgery at the Texas Medical Center. CAS honors the life of Darwish through a variety of graduate research opportunities and community outreach activities.
