    Student Receives Provost's Undergraduate Research Scholarship

    Madison Freeman, mentored by Dr. Amber Thiessen, received a PURS award to study supports for people with aphasia. The purpose of this study is to examine the way that people with aphasia visually attend to text-based cues that support language comprehension. The overall goal is to improve the communication of people with aphasia.

    Brandi BeCoates received the 2025 Dr. Henry A. Moses Scholarship for Medical Speech-Language Pathology. This scholarship was awarded by the National Black Association for Speech-Language and Hearing. Congratulations Brandi!

  • Doctoral candidate Abigail Dueppen was awarded the ASHFoundation's New Century Scholars Doctoral Scholarship for her dissertation study, A Pre- and Postoperative Treatment Protocol for Patients with Benign Vocal Fold Lesions: A Mixed Methods Approach. This scholarship is designed to support strong doctoral candidates who will pursue a teacher-investigator career in an academic environment at the university/college level in the United States. Abbie's PhD mentor is Dr. Ashwini Joshi.
