Taeyoung Lee is an Assistant Professor in the Jack J. Valenti School of Communication at the University of Houston. She received her Ph.D. in Journalism and Media from The University of Texas at Austin. Her research interests broadly revolve around journalism and political communication in the changing media environment. Specifically, her scholarly work addresses the impacts of various forms of mediated political communication on democratically desirable or undesirable outcomes, with a specific focus on misinformation and disinformation. Her scholarship has been published in a variety of peer-reviewed journals, such as New Media & Society, International Journal of Press/Politics, Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly, Mass Communication and Society, Health Communication, International Journal of Public Opinion Research, and so on. Prior to starting her career in academia, she spent seven years as a national newspaper reporter in South Korea.
