"As a graduate student at University of Houston, public history has always been at the center of my degree. The option to major in public history while learning in practicum various mediums used to interpret history provided me with a versatile skill set. Working with CPH allowed for interdisciplinary collaboration and teamwork with colleagues carried on in postgraduate work. Some of my most meaningful experiences within public history came via historical internships, both with local institutions and through independent research.
My advice for future public history students would be to understand that public history is both a practice and field of study; it allows people to educate and inform in ways that are nearly limitless." – Jovan Slaughter, Education Coordinator, State Center for Health Statistics, Division of Public Health, North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services
