Dr. Monica Perales, Director of CPH and Associate Professor of History at UH, will
present "What’s Authenticity Got to Do With It? The Meanings and Uses of Authenticity and
Latino Foodways.”
This is a presentation is based on a paper to be given at the 2017 Southern Foodways Alliance Fall Symposium in Oxford, MI on Oct. 5-7, 2017. The focus of the symposium is “El Sur Latino” and it will be a great meeting of writers, chefs, academics, locals, activists, and entrepreneurs to recognize the role that Latino Southerners have shaped and challenged the boundaries of Southern food.
