Leanica Adams Promoted to Associate Director, Housing Operations & Outreach, at the University of Houston

The University of Houston’s Student Housing and Residential Life (SHRL) is pleased to announce the promotion of Leanica Adams to associate director of Housing Operations & Outreach.

In her new role, Adams will provide strategic leadership in housing operations, focusing on risk management, technology integration, and process improvements to enhance the residential experience. She will serve on the Executive Leadership Team and oversee the planning of annual fall and spring off-site move-ins to ensure a smooth transition for incoming students. Additionally, she will take on increased responsibilities in budget preparation and contract management, including oversight of the StarRez housing management system contract.

Adams has been a key member of the housing team since joining the university in 2013 as assistant manager for housing services. She advanced through various leadership roles, including manager for customer services and operations in 2016 and assistant director for operations and customer service in 2018. Most recently, she optimized housing database management, streamlined assignments and billing, and enhanced customer service in her role as assistant director. She has also played a crucial role in implementing the Mercury and StarRez housing management systems and establishing risk and emergency management protocols to support the department through hurricanes, power outages, building fires, and other challenges.

As associate director, Adams will continue to play a vital role in housing operations while leading Housing Services directly, further strengthening the department’s initiatives and strategic goals.
