The Division of Student Affairs (DSA) is excited to announce Vi Tran as the new Program Manager in the Vice President’s Office, reporting to Dr. Scott Radimer, director of assessment and planning.
A two-time Cougar, Vi earned her Bachelor of Arts in History with minors in Education and Spanish in 2020, followed by a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction, specializing in Bilingual Education, in 2024. Before returning to UH for her graduate studies, Vi started her career in the K-12 education field, where she designed instructional content and assessments tailored to the needs of her emergent bilingual students. Her work in the classroom was centered around promoting language acquisition and ensuring that all students felt seen and valued. Throughout her career, Vi has worked to make learning accessible and meaningful by considering the unique backgrounds and experiences of each student.
Vi’s love for global learning led her to study abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina, during her undergraduate studies This opportunity broadened her understanding of language and culture but also motivated her to bring global perspectives into her teaching and student support practices. Vi’s journey came full circle when she returned to Buenos Aires to teach English, where she immersed herself in a new cultural environment while supporting her students' growth through thoughtful teaching.
In her new role with the Division of Student Affairs, Vi is excited to apply her experience and insights to enhance the student experience at UH. As Program Manager, she will work to collaborate with various departments within the division to develop and implement data driven assessments to ensure our programs continue to create a sense of belonging and support student engagement and academic success.
Please join us in extending a warm Cougar welcome to Vi Tran as she embarks on this exciting new chapter in her career at the University of Houston.
