Traditionally, teachers must pass a Texas teaching certification test before teaching in the classroom. However, Texas is currently deficient in teachers. Therefore, the state of Texas has enabled potential teachers to work on a temporary certification while earning a permanent certification. This means teachers can start working almost immediately and receive a full teacher’s salary plus benefits.
UH is helping those that want to teach through the alternative program to certification – University of Houston Alternative Certification Program (UH ACP). UH ACP is here to guide you, step-by-step through the Texas teaching certification process and create success.
In addition, UH ACP has partnerships with Houston-area school districts. These partnerships provide immediate job opportunities to those in the program. Learn more by watching this recorded info session. (Please keep in mind, info is subject to change.)
