Industrial Design Admission
Application Dates & Application Procedures
October 1 – Deadline for Spring admission
March 1 – Deadline for Fall admission and consideration of available fellowships.
Deadline for all applications (domestic & international) for entry to the Industrial Design Graduate program is March 1st. Applicants for university fellowship consideration (domestic and international) must apply to graduate admissions by October 1st. The Industrial Design program has a limited number of teaching and research assistantships available for highly qualified applicants.
Domestic Application
• A completed Graduate Application form. The online application is available at
• Non-refundable College of Architecture Application fee of $50 (a check or money
order made payable to the University of Houston). Applicants may pay with a credit
card while applying online.
• Original, official copies of transcripts from each college or university attended
since high school (sent directly to the College of Architecture from the school).
• GRE Scores (sent electronically to the University of Houston – code 6870)
• Three letters of recommendation
Resume
Statement of Intent (between 500 – 2000 words in length)
• Portfolio, no larger than 8 1/2” X 11” if submitted as a hard copy. Digital portfolios
cannot exceed 25MB, pdf.

International Application
Applicants who are not citizens of the United States are considered international
students by the university, regardless of residency or immigration status. International
applicants must send additional materials to the College of Architecture and Design. To avoid delays in your application process,
we advise you to submit all required documents together in one package to the Collge of Architecture and Design:

• Non-refundable Application Evaluation Fee of $75.00. (If payment is coming from
outside the U.S., this must be in the form of an American Express money order or a
draft from a U.S. bank.)
