From April 14 to 18, the University of Houston Career Services partnered with the National Student Employment Association to celebrate student workers across campus during Student Employment Week. Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design second-year architecture student Sanam Davariar took home the prize for Undergraduate Student Employee of the Year for her role as a digital media work-study student on the College’s marketing and communications team.
Alumni Spotlight: Russell G. Clark (M.Arch. '91)
April's Alumni Spotlight features Russell G. Clark (M.Arch. '91) who is a senior project manager at ERES Comapnies and the co-owner of AIX Interests, Inc. "A good deal of my career has been outside the 'typical' architect role. After a brief stint working for architecture firms, I spent most of my time working as an owner’s representative and all the many things that can entail," he said, referencing projects like the redesign and construction of Willie G's for Landry's Restaurants, Inc. and the TXDOT Austin Consolidated Campus.
A Future Built on Flexibility
Hines College senior interior architecture student, Lene Fourie, has been named a top interior design student in the METROPOLIS Future100 list. She collaborated with associate professor Marta Rodriguez on two projects —Fan House and Habitable Curtains — challenging notions of space, fostering environments that evolve with human needs.
