On November 8, history will be made as the world watches. The Valenti School of Communication is participating in this momentous occasion through the second installment of Valenti Voices.

Valenti Voices: Election 2016 is a live broadcasted educational experience presented by the Valenti School of Communication. The purpose of the broadcast is to engage the University of Houston community during 2016 Presidential Election. Emceed by talented communication students, Valenti Voices will be cable-casted on Channel 1 (for on-campus viewers) and livestreamed on Facebook Live. The program will feature a full newscast starting at 7:30 p.m and cut-ins over C-Span’s election coverage until 10:00 p.m. Tune in for election stories and live interviews with students and campus thought leaders throughout the night.

How to Watch

• Go to a Viewing Party:
  • Elizabeth D. Rockewell Pavillion:The Department of Political Science is hosting an Election Night Viewing Party tonight from 6 to 10 p.m. The viewing party will be showing Valenti Voices once the news program begins at 7:30 p.m. Not only is the event free and open to all students, refreshments will be provided! The Rockwell Pavillion is located inside of the M.D. Anderson Library. 
  • Communication Technology Center: If you want to watch the program and get a behind-the-scenes look at the production, come to the Communication Technology Center (CTC) at the Valenti School of Communication around 7:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served. 
• Watch Online:
  • Facebook Live: You can stream Valenti Voices from your computer on Facebook Live. First, "Like" the Valenti School of Communication on Facebook and then check back at 7:30 p.m. on Election Night. The program will be streamed live from the Facebook page.
• On Campus:
  • To watch from any TV on campus, tune into Channel 6 for constant coverage of our program.

How to Engage

The purpose of this educational activity is to create a meaningful political experience for students at the Valenti School of Communication and  members of the University of Houston community. As part of this event, the Valenti Voices team will formulate questions and pose them to the UH community through Twitter using the hashtag #ValentiPoll. These questions will be posed in the hours leading up to the program and during the event to allow everyone to weigh in on the election.
