Healthier Substance Use, Healthier Coogs Support Group Wellness November 3 1:30 pm – 3 pm Student Center South - Astrodome Room This drop-in support group offers non-sober students a safe, non-judgmental space to explore healthier ways to manage substance use, gain insight, and receive peer support. No RSVP Required.
VA Benefits & Study Abroad Info Session Veteran Services, Learning Abroad November 3 3:30 pm Veteran Services Office, Student Center North - Room 202 Teaches first-generation students how to participate in learning abroad, how to utilize education benefits to do so, and all of the opportunities provided to make it happen. 
First Gen AmaZINE Creation UH Libraries November 4 11 am - 1 pm MD Anderson Library Room 106R on the first floor Come out and create zines, DIY publications, about what it means for you to complete your degree and the communities that uplift you. There will be materials and snacks provided by the libraries. 
Dia De Muertos Ofrenda ALHAA November 4 11:30 am - 1 pm Senate Chambers RM Student Center North 2nd Floor We invite you to join us as we host and create a traditional Día de Muertos Ofrenda, honoring the rich cultural heritage and heartfelt meaning of this special time of year. 
🎉 Open to all — whether you're familiar with the tradition or curious to learn more, this is a welcoming space to explore the true significance of Día de Muertos.

First-Gen Imposter Syndrome Workshop Center for Student Empowerment November 4 12 pm – 1 pm Student Center South – Skyline Room Struggling with self-doubt in college? You're not alone. Join the Center for Student Empowerment for the First-Gen Imposter Syndrome Workshop, an interactive session designed to help first-generation students understand and overcome imposter syndrome in both academic and personal life.
Tea Tuesday: Home Alone Edition Wellness November 4 10 am – 2 pm UH Wellness lobby (first floor of Campus Rec and Wellness Center) Stop by for free hot tea, snacks, and conversation about the stress and excitement of going home for the holidays. First-Gen A.D. Bruce Free Lunch Wednesday Center for Student Empowerment, Veteran Services November 5 12 pm – Till supplies run out A.D. Bruce Religion Center Join the Center for Student Empowerment's First-Gen Program for Free Lunch on Wednesday at the A.D. Bruce Religion Center. Whether you're a first-generation college student or just hungry for good food and good company, everyone's welcome! Open to all till supplies run out.
Step UP! and Bath Bombs Wellness November 5 11 am – 12 pm Skyline Room in the Student Center Interactive, evidence-based program teaching how to safely and effectively step in when you see someone in a potentially harmful situation. Mental health-focused workshop with practical strategies. Create bath bombs while learning!
Cougar Closet One Big Family   November 5 11 am - 4 pm Student Center South Plaza Cougar Closet’s One Big Family event is a community-centered initiative that brings together UH students, faculty, and staff to support student well-being. The event offers free resources such as clothing from Cougar Closet, professional headshots, and haircuts, while fostering a welcoming environment where everyone can connect and access support.

Credit by Exam Program: Test Course Credits CASA: Testing Services & Bauer College of Business November 6 10 am - 11 am Student Center South - Skyline Rm The session will cover UH Credit by Exam Policies for awarding test credits for AP, IB, CLEP, DSST, and Departmental Test Credits.

Lunch and Learn Dean of Students November 6 12 pm - 1 pm Student Center South - Bayou City Rm Learn what resources the Dean of Students Office offer to support First-Gen students. This session includes a Q&A to hear your experiences and concerns — helping us improve services and advocate where needed.
First-Gen Bash Center for Student Empowerment November 6 2 pm – 5 pm Student Center South – Ballroom Celebrate your journey at the First-Gen Bash, hosted by the Center for Student Empowerment. This uplifting event honors UH students who are the first in their families to attend college, featuring guest speakers, free food, entertainment, and networking with fellow First-Gen Coogs and campus resources.

Cougar Closet Opening Day RSO Cougar Closet November 7 11 am – 4 pm Student Service Center 1 Lobby: 4365 Cougar Village Dr Free, student-run resource providing gently used clothing and accessories for academic, professional, and everyday needs. Open every Friday. Volunteer opportunities available.
First Gen Day of Service Center for Student Empowerment, Division of Student Affairs, Office of Sustainability November 8 11 am - 12 pm Student Service Center 1 As part of First-Gen Week 2025, we invite the entire University of Houston community to join us for the First-Gen Day of Service, a campus-wide clean-up initiative aimed at giving back and keeping our campus beautiful.  
 
 
This event is a collaborative effort between the Division of Student Affairs, the Center for Student Empowerment, and the UH Office of Sustainability, and it reflects the spirit of service, pride, and community that defines our first-generation students.  
 
Whether you're a student, faculty member, or staff, your participation helps foster a cleaner, greener campus and shows support for the values of leadership and stewardship that First-Gen Week celebrates. 
 
🎁 Volunteers will receive service hours and a free t-shirt!  💧 Please bring a bottle of water, a hat, and sunscreen to stay safe and comfortable during the clean-up.
