Steps to Apply for Admission
- Get started on your graduate admission application at applyweb.com/uhouston
- Pay the following Application Fee:
$50 for Domestic Applicants
$80 for International Applicants
This fee will be collected when you submit your application online and is payable to the University of Houston. This fee is non-refundable and cannot be waived or transferred to a future semester application. - Complete Resume or Curriculum Vitae (CV) (submit online)
Must include mailing address and email address. A minimum of one year of hospitality-related work experience is preferred for admission. - Personal Statement (submit online)
Concise description of why you want to pursue an MS in Global Hospitality Business. Approximately 250 words, double spaced. - One Official College Transcript (from all institutions attended)
Cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) – minimum of 3.0 on a 4.0 cumulative average scale. Official transcripts must list degree(s) earned and date(s) awarded, or a degree certificate must be provided.

Applicants must enter the email address of a recommender when completing the online application. Recommendations may come from either an employer or a professor. - Interviews
Interviews are required for applicants who have been selected to continue the admission process. Interviews are conducted online at a time and date agreed upon by the student and the interviewer and are by invitation only.
Additional Required Admissions Document for International Applicants - Official Degree Certificate or Diploma
Submit the above document to the graduate school using the addresses listed in step 5. - Official TOEFL or IELTS Score (English Language Proficiency Requirement)
All graduate applicants, regardless of their citizenship status, must demonstrate proficiency in English to be admitted to the university. The test scores you submit must be valid and reportable at the time of application submission (within the last two years for the TOEFL, IELTS, Pearson, or Duolingo).
• TOEFL: Minimum Score—550 (paper-based test) or 100 (Internet-based test). Scores must be received directly from Educational Testing Services (ETS) and must reflect the University of Houston institution code 6870.
• IELTS: Minimum Overall Band Score—7 (Academic). The testing agency should mail the official results to the University of Houston.
• Duolingo English test: A minimum score of 105 is required.
• Pearson Test of English PTE: The minimum required score for PTE is an overall score of 53 or higher.
Level 6 English course from the Language and Culture Center does not waive TOEFL for graduate students. ITOEFL (Institutional TOEFL) is not valid for graduate students. Refer to US Admission Application Booklet for further information.
Exemptions:
Baccalaureate degree (or higher) earned from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or at an institution at which English is the medium of instruction in the following countries:
American Samoa, Ghana, Saint Kitts & Nevis, Anguilla, Gibraltar, Saint Lucia, Antigua and Barbuda, Grenada, Saint Helena, Australia, Guam, South Africa, Bahamas, Guyana, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Barbados, Ireland, Trinidad & Tobago, Belize, Jamaica, Turks & Caicos Islands, Bermuda, Liberia, United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales), Canada (except the Province of Quebec), Micronesia Islands, United States, Cayman Islands, Montserrat, Virgin Islands, Dominica, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Falkland Islands (Islas Malvinas) and Nigeria

Scholarships
Scholarships from the Hilton College are awarded according to class rank, which is determined by previous coursework GPAs, professional industry experience and, as funding is available. Students who are not initially awarded scholarships can apply for a scholarship before the March 1 annual deadline, provided they have been enrolled in at least one semester of the graduate program.

• Spring Start: October 1
The decision for admission is made based on the evaluation of a complete file submitted
by the application deadline. The official decision will be posted to the applicant’s
ApplyWeb application. Applicants will receive an email notification that the decision
letter is available through the application.
