Parking on Campus

The University of Houston has established a parking and traffic program designed to ensure an orderly flow of traffic and fair parking conditions across campus. The safety of individuals, the consideration of others' needs, campus appearance, and adherence to relevant laws were key factors in developing these regulations.

Program Administration:

This program is managed by Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) at 4224 Elgin St., Building E, Houston, Texas 77204. For inquiries, please contact us at 832-842-1097.

Parking Permit Requirements:

To park on the University of Houston campus, you must have a valid UH parking permit unless using paid visitor parking. Parking permits are non-transferable between individuals, though they may be transferred between vehicles. Information about student permits and faculty-staff permits are posted online.

Responsibility for Parking Citations:

The registered driver and/or permit holder is responsible for any parking citations issued to a vehicle displaying their permit. If the vehicle is not registered with Parking and Transportation Services, motor vehicle records from the Texas Department of Transportation will be used to assign responsibility.

Parking Restrictions:

Please park only in areas designated for your permit type. Do not park in restricted areas, including:

  • Fire lanes
  • No parking zones
  • Grass or sidewalks
  • Unmarked spots
  • Areas obstructing pedestrian or vehicular traffic

If you receive parking citations and fail to address them, your vehicle may be towed at your expense. Additionally, vehicles in violation of state law may not operate on University property.

Policy Familiarization:

It is the responsibility of vehicle operators to familiarize themselves with the current parking rules and regulations.

University Holidays:

For the purposes of these policies and procedures, a university holiday is defined as any day on which university business offices are closed.
