New Programs

All new academic degree programs are subject to review for potential SACSCOC considerations. Please see the link below for more information:
Step One: Notification of Intent (NOI)
- Complete the Notification of Intent and submit to Academic Programs.
Step Two: Preliminary Planning Review (PPR) and Business Pro Forma
- Complete the Preliminary Planning Review.
- Complete the Business Pro Forma. Consult your College Business Office for assistance.
- For proposed programs that will offer any of the following delivery modalities: Hybrid/Blended Online, 100% Online, Off-Campus Face-to-Face, or Off-Campus Electronic-to-Group delivery, complete the THECB Certification Form for Electronically Delivered and Off-Campus Education Programs.
- Email all documents to Academic Programs.
Step Three: Full Proposal
- Upon approval of the PPR and Business Pro Forma by Provosts’ Council, the academic unit will be notified to proceed in completing the appropriate Full Proposal form:
- Contact Anne Dayton, Executive Director of Assessment and Accreditation at adayton@central.uh.edu, and secure written confirmation on any potential SACSCOC considerations.
- Submit the Full Proposal and written confirmation on SACSCOC considerations (if any) to Academic Programs.
Step Four: Full Proposal Review
- The Full Proposal will move forward for faculty committee review.
- Upon faculty committee approval, the Full Proposal will proceed for review by Provosts’ Council.
- Following approval by Provosts’ Council, the proposal will be presented to the University of Houston System (UHS) Board of Regents for review.
- Once approved by the UHS Board of Regents, the proposal will be submitted to the THECB for review.
Step Five: THECB Review and Implementation
- The THECB will send an email notification to public institutions of higher education for a 30-day comment period.
- If approved by the THECB, Academic Programs will notify all relevant UH stakeholders to proceed in implementation via UH data systems.
