New Faculty Orientation

Welcome to the University of Houston!

The Office of the Provost hosts New Faculty Orientation (NFO) at the beginning of the academic year in August. NFO includes both required and optional events to help you settle into your new role and community.

Day 1 of NFO is a mandatory, in-person session from 9:30 AM to 4:00 PM.

All new faculty must register for orientation. Please complete the registration form to confirm your participation in New Faculty Orientation.

Day 2 – Human Resources and Faculty Instructional Support (Optional Attendance)

The Office of Faculty Engagement and Development (FED) has coordinated optional sessions designed to help you make the most of UH resources:

Be Benefits Wise – Human Resources will provide an overview of faculty benefits.

Instructional Resources Overview – Faculty and Departmental Instructional Support (FDIS) will introduce instructional design and educational technology tools to support your teaching.

Day 3 – Coogs Care Training (Mandatory Attendance)

This required training, provided by Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), equips faculty with essential tools to support student well-being and campus mental health initiatives. Training details will be provided upon registration.
