UH Quantum Initiative

On September 19, 2025, the Texas Quantum Summit brought together eight universities from across the state to advance quantum computing and related technologies, identifying four strategic focus areas: Quantum Computing, Quantum Materials and Devices, Quantum Networks, and Workforce Development.

The UH Quantum Initiative aims to align University resources with statewide and national efforts, positioning UH at the forefront of quantum research and development.

Seminar Series

The UH Quantum Initiative Seminar Series brings leading experts to campus for discussions on the latest advances in quantum information, computing, and emerging technologies. Each event will feature a one-hour presentation followed by a dedicated networking session.

Upcoming Events

On Friday, March 27, The University of Houston will host the "Powering the Future: Quantum Technologies in the Energy Economy" symposium featuring a keynote overview of emerging quantum technologies by IonQ, and a panel of energy industry and national lab leaders discussing real-world use cases, research opportunities, workforce expectations, and how students can prepare for the quantum economy.
