There are more than 14,000 University of Houston alums who live in the Fort Bend County area. Their dedication to their alma mater is illustrated in year-round activities to create scholarships for future Cougars.

The tradition continues on March 19, as golfers tee up for the 22nd Annual Coach Bill Yeoman Scholarship Golf Tournament. The event will be held at the Sugar Creek Country Club. Proceeds benefit the Bill & A.J. Yeoman/Fort Bend Endowed Scholarship and the Reservoir Geophysical/Carolyn & Jerry Warren Endowed Scholarship.

"The Bill Yeoman Golf Tournament is one of our biggest fundraisers for our scholarships and endowments. Our goal is to continue to increase the amount of money given in scholarships to our Fort Bend students attending UH. This golf tournament is a great (and fun!) way to do that and to honor Coach Yeoman," said Kelly McClurkin Granado, president of the UH Fort Bend Alumni Club. "We love our Coogs and our University and want to do our part to maintain Tier One status. Hope to see you at the golf tournament and Go Coogs!"

Registration begins at 8 a.m. Shotgun start at 10 a.m. Entry fee includes greens fees, cart, range balls, breakfast, lunch, dinner and beverages on the course. There are various sponsorship levels. Alton and Carolyn Warren are longtime supporters of the University of Houston, advocating for students at UH Sugar Land and the main campus. Yeoman is the UH legendary football coach who, over 25 seasons from 1962-1986, earned 160 victories--the most in Houston's history and 51^st on the NCAA all-time wins list.

The UH Fort Bend Alumni Club was organized in 1995. Their activities throughout the year raise funds for graduating Fort Bend high school students who wish to attend UH. To date, students have received more than $200,000 in scholarships.
