Farewell and Congratulations to Dick Phillips
Friends,
After nearly 20 years with the University of Houston, and 26 years with UHV and university systems in Iowa and Missouri, Dick Phillips is calling it a career.
We all owe a great debt of gratitude to him for his guidance that led to the creation of our two UH instructional sites. His leadership and vision created the partnerships with county and city leaders that ushered in the transition from a UHS campus to our current UH at Sugar Land. He also was at the helm when the UH System opted to extend its reach into Katy. Dick also was instrumental in developing collaborations with Fort Bend County and the City of Sugar Land that led to construction of the University Branch Library. His cultivation of key partnerships with entities such as the George Foundation, private businesses and individuals still stand and benefit our University and instructional sites.
On a personal note, Dick has been a friend and mentor to me, particularly as I transitioned to my position with the UH instructional sites. His guidance has been invaluable, and I look forward to many golf games and happy hours in his new retirement adventure.
Please join me in thanking and congratulating Dick on a career well done.
