SACSCOC University Accreditation

The University of Houston is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award baccalaureate, masters, and doctorate degrees. The University of Houston also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels. The Bachelors in Architecture and Masters in Architecture is accredited through the National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB) and the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. The National Architectural Accrediting Board (NAAB), which is the sole agency authorized to accredit professional degree programs in architecture offered by institutions with U.S. regional accreditation, recognizes three types of degrees: the Bachelor of Architecture, the Master of Architecture, and the Doctor of Architecture. As of November 2023, the Hines College's interior architecture and industrial design programs are accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design. The Commission granted the University fully accredited membership with no deferrals. |
