Simple Syllabus at the University of Houston
Dear Faculty and Staff,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to inform you that starting this summer, faculty will use Simple Syllabus to create syllabi for all courses. Completing a syllabus in the Simple Syllabus platform will replace the process you previously followed to upload your course syllabus to the faculty center to comply with State of Texas HB-2504.
Note that Simple Syllabus is not available for Spring 2025 syllabus creation, and syllabi for Summer 2025 and future semesters can only be created using Simple Syllabus.
Simple Syllabus is a user-friendly platform designed to streamline the creation, distribution, and management of course syllabi. This tool will ensure consistency and compliance with institutional standards, while also providing students with easy access to course information.
Here are some key benefits of using Simple Syllabus:
- Standardization: All syllabi will follow a consistent format, and automatically include university required language, while allowing faculty to easily include a wealth of additional information, including video. The format will also make it easier for students to navigate and understand course expectations.
- Accessibility: Students will have access to syllabi from any device, at any time, ensuring they have the information they need to succeed, and faculty will have a mechanism to determine which students have taken the time to view the syallabus.
- Efficiency: Simple Syllabus simplifies the process of creating and updating course syllabi, and collect data for accreditation requirements.
To get started, either log into AccessUH and look for the Simple Syllabus icon, or login directly to the Simple Syllabus platform using your UH Cougarnet credentials. The instructional design team has created a variety of resources and tutorials to help you familiarize yourself with Simple Syllabus. Additionally, our UH Simple Syllabus support team is available to assist you with any questions or concerns you may have. Also, live trainings will start in April.
We appreciate your cooperation and commitment to enhancing the learning experience for our students. Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
Sincerely,
Dr. Jeff Morgan
